GatosBros : Handguard Shields
My background is primarily in metal fabrication, but I’ve started working with composites recently and am really enjoying this type of work. There’s no magic to it, just a bit of a learning curve. People ask me about the fiberglass and the dust, and all I can think to say is that it beats grinding dust and black boogers! Click here if you'd like to read a bit more about working with composites - I've compiled an index of all the helpful info I've found online.
These hand guard shields were designed to provide full rally-style coverage, but most importantly they wrap around under the handlebars and greatly reduce the likelihood that a riders' arms might get tangled-up between the handlebars and the handguards. I hand-shaped one side, then we laser-scanned that part. We're making some small changes/revisions in SolidWorks, and we'll also be able to mirror it to ensure perfect symmetry.
