Specialized Bicycles > Interactive Training Guide

In 1982 Specialized Bicycles introduced the world's first production mountain bike, the Stumpjumper. Since then Specialized has become a leading manufacturer of all types of performance bicycles. Specialized started SBCU (Specialized Bicycles Component University) to provide a multi-tiered training system to help educate its dealers about their ever-growing line of bikes, equipment, and technology. The Interactive Training Guide, designed and developed by Crux Studio, is the final tier in this program.

The primary goal of the Interactive Training Guide is to improve product literacy amongst a high-turnover labor force. Users are intended to study Macromedia Flash based volumes in order to acquire a working knowledge of the Specialized line and increase their ability to communicate that knowledge to customers. The information provided in these volumes includes complete product specs, videos showing the products in action, and instructional presentations demonstrating key technologies. After reviewing any section of the interactive training guide, users can participate in online testing to demonstrate their knowledge of the Specialized product line and qualify to win contest prizes. The Specialized-backed incentive program encourages employee participation and allows Specialized to verify the effectiveness of the SBCU training program.

Specialized is able to fully administer the online testing through a custom-built content management system, developed using PHP/MySQL. Administers can create and organize tests, check users scores, and mange contest prizes through an easy to use interface.
